Bilaspur: Collector Avnish Sharan held a meeting of officials today and reviewed the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana run for Rabi crops. He has expressed his displeasure over the very slow progress of insurance. Now only 4 days are left for insurance of Rabi crops. The last date has been fixed as 31st December. In view of the uncertainty of the weather, the Collector has appealed to more and more farmers to get insurance. He instructed the officials to directly contact each farmer of the notified villages and provide advice and guidance for insurance. Officials of agriculture, horticulture and insurance companies have been asked to work expeditiously by launching a campaign in the remaining 4 days with mutual coordination. Insurance will be easily done by taking necessary documents to CSC or banks. He has also directed bank officials for this. It is noteworthy that this time 77 villages have been notified for Rabi crop insurance in the district. Wheat, gram, linseed and mustard crops can be insured in Rabi. This time a target has been set for Rabi insurance of 800 farmers. Till now only 155 farmers have been insured against this. Whereas last year 239 farmers had taken insurance. The Collector has expressed dissatisfaction over providing insurance cover to such a small number of farmers. He has asked to ensure insurance to every eligible farmer by conducting intensive visits to the identified villages. He said that the insurance premium is very low. By paying a small amount as premium we can avoid big losses. Premium amount will have to be paid per acre for non-irrigated wheat, Rs. 158 for irrigated, Rs. 128 for mustard, Rs. 188 for gram and Rs. 110 per acre for linseed. Officials of Agriculture Department and Insurance Company told in the meeting that insurance can be done in CSC or Bank. For this, farmers are required to have latest Aadhar card copy, latest B-1 and P-2, copy of first page of bank pass book, crop sowing certificate, mobile number and declaration form for the farmer.
