Cyber Fraud Cases in India: The activities of cyber criminals are increasing in the country. According to a report, Indian citizens have suffered a loss of Rs 11,333 crore due to cyber fraud in the first 9 months of the year 2024. The report says that about 12 lakh cyber fraud complaints have been registered in the country.
The Indian Express, quoting data from the Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System (CFCFRMS), said that more than 12 lakh cyber crime cases have been registered. In this, people have been cheated the most in the name of investing in the stock market. Out of these 12 lakh complaints, 2.28 lakh complaints were related to investment in the stock market. Due to this, people have suffered a loss of Rs 4,636 crore.
63,481 complaints of digital arrest in the first 9 months
In the first 9 months of the year 2024, 63,481 complaints of digital arrest have been received, resulting in a loss of Rs 1,616 crore. Earlier, PM Modi had made people aware about digital arrest in his Mann Ki Baat program. He had said that no government agency contacts any person through phone or video call for investigation.
Scammers rob in these ways
According to the report, cyber frauds are making people their victims through methods like investment and jobs, instant people, digital arrest, dating, fake gaming apps and sextortion. CFCFRMS had received 11,31,221 complaints related to cyber crimes in 2023, 5,14,741 in 2022 and 1,35,242 in 2021. At the same time, in the first quarter of this year only, people have lost Rs 120.3 crore due to digital arrest. Let us tell you that the cases of digital arrest are increasing rapidly. Scammers are adopting new methods every day and robbing people. However, cyber police is making every effort to stop this and is also making people aware.
