Good news for Shorts creators! From this day onwards you will be able to make 3 minute long videos, note down the date

YouTube has announced several updates to its Shorts feature. Starting October 15, the platform will increase the video limit for Shorts from one minute to three minutes. This update will apply to shorts that will be made in a square or taller aspect ratio. Apart from this, this update will not be applicable to videos shot before October 15.

Timing of YouTube shorts increased

This change will give creators an opportunity to showcase their creativity in more detail. Through YouTube’s longer shorts, creators will be able to better connect with their audiences and share their stories more effectively.

In addition to increasing video limits, YouTube is also introducing previews of comments in the Shorts feed. The company is also working on allowing the creation of remix clips by capturing different YouTube clips through the Shorts camera. The feature was first released in early 2024, allowing users to strip audio, use the video as a background, cut it for use in their Shorts, or combine it with their creations. Can be kept side-by-side.

New tool will be available in shorts

YouTube has also introduced a new tool that will allow users to show fewer Shorts, which they can access via the three-dot menu in the top right corner. Let us tell you that the people making shorts on YouTube were waiting for the increase in its time duration for a long time. Now finally YouTube has given a new gift to people.

In such a situation, it will be interesting to see what steps Meta takes against YouTube Shorts’ biggest competitor in India i.e. Instagram Reels. At present, users can post only a maximum of 90 seconds i.e. 1.5 minutes long video on Instagram. In such a situation, it remains to be seen whether Meta also increases the time duration for reels or not.
