Following the orders of telecom regulator TRAI, Jio and Airtel have launched voice only plans. Such plans are visible on the websites of both the companies, in which only calling and SMS benefits are given. This decision will provide great relief to those people including 2G users who did not need data, but till now they had to pay the price of data in recharge plans. There are still crores of people in the country who do not use data on mobile.
TRAI had given the order last month
The telecom regulator had ordered all telecom companies to introduce voice-only recharge plans on December 23, 2024. For this the companies were given one month’s time. It was said in the order that along with their existing recharge plans, companies will also have to bring such plans which have the benefits of only voice calling and SMS. Such plans are necessary for those who do not need data. Along with feature phone users, it will also benefit those who use 2 SIMs.
Jio brought these plans
Following TRAI orders, Jio has launched plans of Rs 458 and Rs 1,958. The validity of the Rs 458 plan is 84 days. In this, free unlimited calling and 1,000 free SMS will be available across the country. Mobile data is not provided in this. With the plan, you will get access to Jio Cinema and Jio TV apps. Similarly, the plan of Rs 1,958 will be valid for 365 days. In this you will get free calling and total 3,600 SMS. Mobile data is not being provided in this also.
Airtel introduced these plans
Like Jio, Airtel has also introduced two voice only plans. The company is offering unlimited calling and 900 SMS for 84 days in the Rs 509 plan. Whereas in the plan of Rs 1,999, users will get unlimited calling and 300 SMS with validity of one year.
