MahaKumbh 2025: UP Police made master plan to avoid cyber fraud in Mahakumbh

Mahakumbh 2025: There is less than a week left for the beginning of Mahakumbh 2025, the great festival of faith. This fair, which will last for 45 days, will start from 13 January and end on 26 February. It is being organized in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh and crores of devotees will participate in this fair. Amidst the increasing cases of digital fraud, the police have made special arrangements to protect these devotees from cyber crime. Even before the start of the fair, arrests on cyber crime charges have started.

Police have made these arrangements

Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar said that at least 150 policemen have been put on duty for cyber patrolling. Their job is to keep an eye on suspicious websites, monitor social media activity and keep an eye on cyber frauds. Apart from this, trained policemen have also been deployed on the Mahakumbh Helpdesk Hotline 1920. This helpline remains open 24 hours.

Social media is being monitored

Police are also keeping an eye on social media so that no misleading or wrong information regarding the event reaches the people. Along with this, the police is also keeping an eye on the accounts spreading rumours. DGP said that so far 78 websites have been investigated. Of these, 7 fake websites have been closed and 5 cases have been registered against them. Police have also arrested 4 accused on cyber crime charges and seized laptops, mobile phones and ATM cards from them.

Campaign being run to make people aware

The Chief of Uttar Pradesh Police said that by running an awareness campaign through social and print media, people are being appealed to avoid OTP fraud, fake websites and investment fraud. Apart from this, the police is also taking the help of experts to avoid any kind of possible cyber attack.
