Now you can get E-Fir written through WhatsApp, first complaint filed here, police action

Now you can also send a complaint to the police through WhatsApp. Actually, Jammu and Kashmir Police has started this initiative. On Saturday, the police have registered an e-FIR on the basis of the complaint received on WhatsApp for the first time. The police spokesperson said that taking steps towards digital policing, the first E-FIR was lodged on the complaint received on WhatsApp at Willgam Police Station in Handwara. The driver sent a complaint

According to media reports, Imtiaz Ahmed Dar, who worked as a driver in the State Road Transport Corporation, sent a complaint through WhatsApp. Dar, a resident of Hanjipora in Kupwara district, told that he was going from Tarathpora to Srinagar on Saturday. On the way, when he reached near Willgam, two youths forcibly stopped him and assaulted him. These youths have been identified as Aashiq Hussain Bhat and Gauhar Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Shehniipora in Willgam. The complainant said that he had suffered several injuries in the fight.

Police registered FIR

A police spokesman said that on the basis of the complaint, E-FIR has been registered against the accused at Willgam Police Station under sections 115 (2) and 126 (2) of BNS.
