Telecom Regulator Authority of India (TRAI) has strictly tightened the spam calls. TRAI has made it clear that if the telecom companies violate the rules, then they can be fined from 2 to 10 lakh rupees. Real time will have to give spam calls information
TRAI has asked all telecom companies to analyze spam calls and SMS patterns. This analysis will be based on high call volume, short call duration and low-incoming to outgoing call ratio to identify spamors. TRAI has made it mandatory for telecom companies to amend the rules to tell the full number of spam calls coming to a number. If a company does not do this, then it will be fined. For the first time, for violating the rules, he will be fined Rs 2 lakh and for the second time a fine of Rs 5 lakh will be imposed on violation. Even after this, if the company does not follow the rules, then it will have to pay a fine of Rs 10 lakh according to every violation.
Now 10 digit numbers will not be used for telemarketing
To increase transparency, TRAI has banned commercial communication with 10 digits numbers. This means that now number of 10 digits will not be used for telemarketing. Instead, the series of ‘140’ will be done for promotional calls, while ‘1600’ series will be used for transactional and service calls. Apart from this, TRAI has also made it easy to file a complaint of spam call for users. Now it will not be necessary to register them for communication prefane.
