Once this scan is done their work starts. The person scanning thinks that he is scanning for payment, but in reality he is scanning the code to install a file containing malware.
Once the link is scanned, hackers can collect all the necessary information by installing a program on the phone. These can contain information ranging from personal to bank accounts. If this information is obtained then hackers can empty the bank account in a few seconds. A few days ago, a similar scam happened with a policeman in Pune, in which he lost lakhs of rupees.

Do not be hasty while doing any digital transaction. Verify each link or platform and then proceed.
Always use official apps only for digital transactions. Download them only from trusted stores like Google Play Store and Apple App Stores.
